Mechanics of Anamorph
Site Mechanics
(No picture here yet; I can't seem to draw gears that actually look like gears).
- This site is powered by a Macintosh Quadra 610 running WebStar 1.2.1. All the cgi's are written in HyperCard.
- Anamorph started its life in the offices of Directnet,, a Los Angeles area ISP. Now it's located at Glyphic, the company I work for.
- Pictures are drawn in SuperCard, and further processed with GifConverter and Transparency.
- Aside from a few different Internet browsers and the software mentioned above, the main piece of commercial software I use is Timbuktu, which allows me to administer the site remotely. It's pretty neat; I get a window on my home machine that represents the contents of my server; whatever I manipulate in that window changes the state of the server machine. Over the Internet, it's a bit slow (it feels like I'm trying to dance underwater), but it's functional and it works well.
- The share- and free- ware I used to create this Web site includes Clip2Gif (freeware) and HTML Grinder (shareware). Clip2Gif converts any PICT on the clipboard to a GIF; HTML Grinder allows you to find and replace text in multiple HTML files, build indices and glossaries of HTML documents, and a lot of other useful things.
- My three CGI's (the card trick, the statistics generator, and the update mechanism) are all run from a single HyperCard program. You can download my cgi's if you like; no documentation is provided, but I'll be glad to answer questions about them.
More information, and links to sites for all the software above, will be provided soon.
